You know where your cuticles are, but did you know that cuticles are dead skin? I have to admit that I haven’t given much thought about my cuticles until now! I've been eagerly awaiting the re-opening of Basecoat! My fingers and toes need some love from this nail salon that doesn't use any harsh chemicals. My ladies over at R.L. Linden & CO make the products used in your mani & pedi! I wouldn't go anywhere else. In the meantime, here are some tips for the care of your cuticles, your nails and hands will appear happier and healthier!
Here’s what I recommend in order to care for your cuties!
* Cuticle Cream
Carry some in your sack, and apply often throughout the day! I love the Burt’s Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream, it’s affordable and you won’t find any of those toxic ingredients in it!
* Never Cut ‘Em
It’s oh so important to just push ‘em back and leave ‘em. Occasionally you can trim the excess, however don’t cut away the whole cuticle. This gathering of dead skin actually deters germs from getting in the nail bed.
* Exfoliate Your Hands
You can treat your hands and nails by using a scrub (check back for easy homemade recipies)! I also love the scrubs from Red Flower. Make sure to pay special attention to your cuticles!
* Carry A Hand Cream
Moisturize your hands several times a day, especially if you use your hands in your career and you wash them frequently throughout the day. I love Weleda’s Skin Food!
